SUMMARY:Race and Racism in Early Childhood Education
DESCRIPTION:We are all in different places as we move forward in our journeys through entrenched and challenging issues. Many of us shy away from discussing racism out of fear that we will make a mistake\, offend others\, be labeled as angry or racist\, or face repercussions in our work or personal lives. At the end of the discussion\, each participant will be welcomed to make a commitment to professional action steps inspired by the article. \nThis event will be facilitated by Southwest Ohio AEYC Equity Committee Co-Chairs Denise Steward and Bella Frueh. \nRegistrants will be sent a PDF version of the article within 3 business days of registration. Participants may request an attendance certificate via email after the event. \nPlease note that\, in order to facilitate an engaging discussion\, spots are limited—so register now! \nRegister Here\n

SUMMARY:Racial Healing Circle
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the National Day of Racial Healing for a Racial Healing Circle. \nWhat is a racial healing circle? \nRacial healing circles are designed to focus on stories that affirm our common humanity rather than solving a problem. They are designed to go much deeper into the heart space by encouraging participants to share their stories\, by listening intently to the stories of others\, find common ground\, and help us to see ourselves in the perceived other. In the words of Dr. Gail Christopher\, “It is a commitment to acknowledging that unconscious bias lives in all of us\, and is the spiritual work of affirming and loving ourselves.” \nFacilitated by Denise Steward\, SWOAEYC Board Member and Equity Committee Co-Chair. \nRegistration is required. \nRegister Here
